Introducing Outlander Labs

Starting in September of 2020 I’ll be a mentor at Outlander Labs.

Outlander Labs is an early stage fund and accelerator based in Atlanta and serving the broader Southeast of US. It will begin as a $10M fund providing funding to a diverse portfolio of founders in the Southeast of US and it’ll open its doors in September of 2020. We invest $50k to $250k per company and accelerate startups with mentorship, in house experts, community, customer building, and active fundraising.

We will provide technical and business domain experts, experienced founder and VC mentors and a large physical space where we catalyse community and work hands-on with founders. Many founders will initially come from Atlanta and all will be from the Southeast. Founders will enter and work within our program for up to two years rent-free and we will remain actively involved; helping them deliver their first product, secure early customers and create enough value to earn quality follow-on funding. 

Our mentor program will use a double blind opt-in system to get founders connected with local and remote mentors. The mentor network consists of investors and founders who can help founders navigate the long and difficult journey of company building and fundraising. We also have an expert program: locally paid experts who the fund employs to provide our founders with design, product and sales experience as they build and launch their first product.

Follow-on funding will come from a mix of local and external investors. We’ll leverage our network of 1200 investor contacts to host twice annual funding events as well as an evergreen fundraising process with our massive national network.

In addition, we will invest our time helping local angels and other wealthy individuals become investors; teaching them what we've learned and involving them early in order to develop a diverse and denser angel network across the Southeast. We will also create newsletters, content and events that bring investors together with our community of founders.

Bridging the funding gap will be a challenge but we will use our network, hard work and unique programming to cross that chasm.

Current open hires: (all jobs based in Atlanta, USA):

Senior Partner: Investing professional with at least 5 years experience sourcing, winning and deals.

Partner: Investing professional with at least 2 years experience sourcing, winning and supporting deals

Venture Partner: Investment professional with limited to deep experience who's looking to learn and support the fund on a part-time basis

Community Manager: Run's the day to day operations of the fund + incubator space and manages all of our resources, events and activities.
